"THE MULHOLLAND FOUNTAIN" -Dal in La-La Land #14
William Mulholland began as a ditch tender with the LA City Water Company and eventually became superintendent and chief engineer. He was responsible for building the 233-mile aqueduct that brings the Owens River water to Los Angeles. The water arrived in Los Angeles on November 5, 1913. Mulholland Drive was named after him for his contributions.
The Mulholland Fountain was dedicated August 1, 1940. It was dubbed the "Kool-Aid Fountain" because it was illuminated with colored light at night and located across from the entrance of Griffith Park
